"Hong Kong, 4 April, 2008 ¨C Celestial Pictures has sealed an exclusive deal with the MGM Channel Central Europe (MGM Central Europe) to premiere its Shaw Brothers martial arts titles on Pay TV in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.

The partnership with MGM marks the first time the Shaw Brothers martial arts films are available on pay TV in these respective territories. The latest agreement is a continuation of the partnership built up over the past three years that originated from the success of MGM Channel Germany¡¯s Kung Fu Classics nights.

¡°We are honoured that the MGM Channel will be releasing Shaw Brothers titles in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.¡± said Terry Mak, Executive Vice President, Distribution & TV Networks of Celestial Pictures. ¡°Celestial¡¯s Shaw Brothers library is the most extensive collection of Chinese language films in the world - especially in the martial arts genre - and for which these titles are highly celebrated in Central Europe.¡±

Audiences in Central Europe will now have a chance to see how top directors expanded and reinvented the martial arts genre in their own styles. Key titles to be distributed include martial-arts renowned masterpieces such as Chang Cheh¡¯s The Five Venoms, Hu King-chun¡¯s Come Drink with Me, and Liu Chia-liang¡¯s The 36th Chamber of Shaolin.

Celestial¡¯s Shaw Brothers Film Library consists of 760 films produced from the 1950s to the 1990s.
